E100 for St. Stephen's Church

George Washington did. Shakespeare did. So did Bob Dylan. They all read the Bible. What about you? Sure, you’ve got one, just like over 90% of American households. But only 20% of people who own Bibles ever read through it in their lifetime. This includes people who regularly go to church.

The Essential 100 Challenge (The E100) is a helpful and simple approach that guides readers through the big picture of the Bible without getting bogged down and frustrated. The E100 is a carefully selected list of short Bible passages—50 from the Old Testament and 50 from the New Testament. The passages can usually be read in 10 minutes or less. (Click on the E100 Reading Planner link to the right for a complete list of readings.)

The Bible tells of God’s love for and rescue of normal peoplewith big problems. People like us. The E100 gives you a simple program to read the Bible and hear that story. It will have a profound impact on your life.

At St. Stephen’s this year we will offer the E100 challenge. In personal devotions, family reading, small group study, Sunday sermons, and in our adult education and our student ministries, we will be reading through the Essential 100 passages of the Bible.
