- We are a biblical church. We get to know Jesus through the Bible, God’s Word written down. We believe it is uniquely inspired by God and filled with ancient wisdom for modern people; we trust its wisdom and guidance. We read it, we teach it, we love it, and we especially look to meet Jesus
in its pages.
- We’re a church for others. That means we don’t just exist for ourselves. The church has a mission—to love God first, and then to love and serve others! For almost 150 years, St. Stephen’s has done that in Sewickley, the greater Pittsburgh area, and the world. Our members regularly go on mission trips close to home as well as abroad. We support many missionaries and relief agencies. And we seek to be a good neighbor in our Sewickley community.
- We are a family church. Like Jesus, we love kids and families. Children are welcome at all our services, but we also provide childcare so moms and dads can focus on the sermon, not their rambunctious little ones. We have a full range of age-appropriate, Bible-based, creative and fun programs for kids during services and Education Hour (Sunday School). During the week and throughout the year we feature regular programs and special events for children, students, and parents.
- We are an Anglican church. Being Anglican means some wonderful things. It means you are part of the third largest family of Christians in the world and a part of a neighborhood church. It means we have an ancient past and live in a modern culture. It means we have well developed patterns of worship and the freedom to be flexible and innovative. It means we love the Bible and we love Holy Communion. And it means we are all about the good news (“Gospel” – that’s what it means!) of Jesus Christ. It’s quite a mix, with a great deal more – and we love it all!
